R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Hal W. Holbrook of Dallas on
 1-2     May 24, 1999, at the age of 38, has brought a great loss to the
 1-3     family and many friends of this beloved gentleman; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born on August 12, 1960, in Dallas, to Loretta and
 1-5     James Holbrook, he  lived in the Metroplex all his life and
 1-6     graduated from Nimitz High School in Irving; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Mr. Holbrook was a highly respected employee of
 1-8     Southwestern Bell Telephone and a member of Communications Workers
 1-9     of America, Local 6215, AFL-CIO; and
1-10           WHEREAS, He was a dedicated volunteer with many drug and
1-11     alcohol abuse prevention organizations and had marked 12 years as a
1-12     member of the AA/NA Duncanville Group/Cornerstone Group;
1-13     Mr. Holbrook's brief time here was enriched by the support of his
1-14     family and many cherished friends and the companionship of his
1-15     beloved dog, Daisy; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Although it is painful to say goodbye to one so
1-17     young and full of promise, it is fitting to remember his unique
1-18     spirit of friendship and devotion that will surely live on in the
1-19     hearts and minds of all those whose lives he touched; now,
1-20     therefore, be it
1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
1-22     Legislature hereby honor the memory of Hal W. Holbrook and extend
1-23     deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his father, James
1-24     W. Holbrook, Sr., and his stepmother, Bobbie; to his brother and
 2-1     sister-in-law, Jim and Diane Holbrook; to his sisters, Karen Piper
 2-2     and Diane Medina; to his nieces and nephews; and to the many other
 2-3     friends and relatives of this fine man; and, be it further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-5     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
 2-6     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
 2-7     Hal W. Holbrook.
