No. 100 By: Brown 1-8 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-9 AN ACT 1-10 relating to the design of a quarter dollar coin commemorating the 1-11 State of Texas. 1-12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-13 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 401, Government Code, is 1-14 amended by adding Section 401.033 to read as follows: 1-15 Sec. 401.033. DESIGN FOR QUARTER DOLLAR COIN COMMEMORATING 1-16 TEXAS. (a) The governor is designated as the state official 1-17 authorized to consult with the United States secretary of the 1-18 treasury under 31 U.S.C. Section 5112(l) relating to the design for 1-19 a quarter dollar coin commemorating this state to be issued under 1-20 that section. 1-21 (b) The governor may appoint an advisory committee as the 1-22 governor considers appropriate to assist the governor in carrying 1-23 out this section, including formulating, soliciting, reviewing, or 1-24 recommending a design or designs for the coin. Members of the 1-25 committee are not entitled to reimbursement for expenses incurred 1-26 in the performance of committee duties. 1-27 (c) This section expires January 1, 2005. 1-28 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-29 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-30 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-31 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-32 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-33 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-34 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-35 * * * * *
