No. 131 1-2 (In the Senate - Filed January 7, 1999; January 28, 1999, 1-3 read first time and referred to Committee on Health Services; 1-4 February 18, 1999, reported favorably by the following vote: Yeas 1-5 5, Nays 0; February 18, 1999, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the notice required to be posted at a hospital or 1-9 nursing home prohibiting the carrying of a handgun by a person 1-10 licensed to carry a concealed handgun. 1-11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-12 SECTION 1. Subsection (b), Section 411.204, Government Code, 1-13 is amended to read as follows: 1-14 (b) A hospital licensed under Chapter 241, Health and Safety 1-15 Code, or a nursing home licensed under Chapter 242, Health and 1-16 Safety Code, shall prominently display at each entrance to the 1-17 hospital or nursing home, as appropriate, a sign that complies with 1-18 the requirements of Subsection (c) other than the requirement that 1-19 the sign include on its face the number "51". 1-20 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-21 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-22 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-23 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-24 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-25 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-26 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-27 * * * * *
