No. 144 76R2942 MXM-D A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to the designation of a person to receive notice of 1-3 utility service connections. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Section 366.005(a), Health and Safety Code, is 1-6 amended to read as follows: 1-7 (a) An electric utility shall compile a list weekly for each 1-8 county in this state of the addresses located in an unincorporated 1-9 area of the county at which the electric utility has made new 1-10 electric service connections during the preceding week. The 1-11 electric utility shall submit the list to the county judge of the 1-12 county, or to a county officer or employee designated by the county 1-13 judge, who shall forward the list to each authorized agent having 1-14 jurisdiction over an area in which an address on the list is 1-15 included. The authorized agent may use the list for the purpose of 1-16 implementing and enforcing rules under this chapter. This section 1-17 does not apply to a reconnection of service to a location 1-18 previously served. 1-19 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-20 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-21 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-22 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-23 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-24 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 2-1 passage, and it is so enacted.
