AN ACT 1-1 relating to the modification of certain child support orders. 1-2 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-3 SECTION 1. Section 156.401, Family Code, is amended by 1-4 adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: 1-5 (d) Release of a child support obligor from incarceration is 1-6 a material and substantial change in circumstances for purposes of 1-7 Subsection (a)(1) if the obligor's child support obligation was 1-8 abated, reduced, or suspended during the period of the obligor's 1-9 incarceration. 1-10 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999, and 1-11 applies to a child support order entered before, on, or after that 1-12 date. 1-13 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-14 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-15 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-16 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-17 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended. _______________________________ _______________________________ President of the Senate Speaker of the House I hereby certify that S.B.
