                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                       AN ACT
 1-1     relating to the assessment of costs or fees by a county or
 1-2     municipality related to the seizure, acceptance, impoundment, or
 1-3     destruction of a dangerous dog.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subsection (d), Section 822.042, Health and
 1-6     Safety Code, is amended to read as follows:
 1-7           (d)  The owner shall pay any cost or fee assessed by the
 1-8     municipality or county related to the seizure, impoundment, or
 1-9     [and] destruction of the dog or, if it is delivered or surrendered
1-10     by the owner, related to the acceptance of the dog.  The governing
1-11     body of the municipality or county may prescribe the amount of the
1-12     fees.
1-13           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-14     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-15     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-16     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-17     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-18     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-19     passage, and it is so enacted.
