AN ACT 1-1 relating to a disqualification for receipt of unemployment 1-2 compensation benefits for a benefit period in which the applicant 1-3 for benefits works full-time. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Section 201.091, Labor Code, is amended by adding 1-6 Subsection (e) to read as follows: 1-7 (e) For purposes of this subtitle, an individual is not 1-8 considered unemployed and is not eligible to receive benefits for 1-9 any benefit period during which the individual works the 1-10 individual's customary full-time hours, regardless of the amount of 1-11 wages the individual earns during the benefit period. 1-12 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999, and 1-13 applies only to a claim for unemployment compensation benefits that 1-14 is filed with the Texas Workforce Commission on or after that date. 1-15 A claim filed before that date is governed by the law in effect on 1-16 the date that the claim was filed, and the former law is continued 1-17 in effect for that purpose. 1-18 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-19 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-20 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-21 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-22 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended. _______________________________ _______________________________ President of the Senate Speaker of the House I hereby certify that S.B.
