 1-6     COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO. 1                                By:  Brown
 1-7     Amend S.B. No. 637 by deleting SECTION 1 and inserting in lieu
 1-8     thereof the following:
 1-9           SECTION 1.  Subsection (f), Section 51.9335, Education Code,
1-10     is amended to read as follows:
1-11           (f)  This section does not apply to professional services
1-12     subject to Subchapter A, Chapter 2254, Government Code [expires
1-13     September 1, 1999].
1-14                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-15                                   AN ACT
1-16     relating to the acquisition of goods and services by certain
1-17     medical and dental units.
1-18           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-19           SECTION 1.  Subsection (f), Section 51.9335, Education  Code,
1-20     is repealed.
1-21           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-22     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-23     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-24     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-25     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
