                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                       AN ACT
 1-1     relating to the delivery of protective orders to certain affected
 1-2     persons.
 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4           SECTION 1.  Section 85.042, Family Code, is amended by
 1-5     amending Subsection (d) and adding Subsection (e) to read as
 1-6     follows:
 1-7           (d)  The applicant or the applicant's attorney shall provide
 1-8     in writing to the clerk of the court:
 1-9                 (1)  the name, facsimile number, or electronic mail
1-10     address, if any, and mailing address of each law enforcement
1-11     agency, child-care facility, and school to which the clerk is
1-12     required to send [mail] a copy of the order under this section; and
1-13                 (2)  any other information required under Section
1-14     411.042(b)(5), Government Code.
1-15           (e)  A copy of an order sent under Subsection (a) or (b)
1-16     shall be sent by mail, facsimile transmission, or electronic mail.
1-17     A written verification of the receipt of the facsimile transmission
1-18     or electronic mail by the clerk shall be placed with papers of the
1-19     court.
1-20           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-21     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-22     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-23     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-24     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
 2-1     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
 2-2     passage, and it is so enacted.
