                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the naming of components and facilities of the regional
 1-3     academic health center.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 74.613, Education Code, is amended to
 1-6     read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 74.613. FACILITIES.  (a)  The physical facilities of the
 1-8     regional academic health center used in its teaching and research
 1-9     programs, including libraries, auditoriums, research facilities,
1-10     and medical education buildings, may be provided by a public or
1-11     private entity.  A physical facility may be constructed,
1-12     maintained, or operated with state money appropriated for that
1-13     purpose.
1-14           (b)  The facilities and associated programs operated by the
1-15     regional academic health center in or near any municipality in the
1-16     counties served by the center shall be designated as "the
1-17     University of Texas Regional Academic Health Center at (insert name
1-18     of municipality)."
1-19           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-20     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-21     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-22     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-23     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-24     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
 2-1     passage, and it is so enacted.
