                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                       AN ACT
 1-1     relating to the composition of the 33rd and 198th judicial
 1-2     districts and the composition of the Third and Sixth administrative
 1-3     judicial regions.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 24.135, Government Code, is amended to
 1-6     read as follows:  
 1-7           Sec. 24.135.  33RD JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BLANCO, BURNET, LLANO,
 1-8     [MASON,] AND SAN SABA COUNTIES).  (a)  The 33rd Judicial District
 1-9     is composed of Blanco, Burnet, Llano, [Mason,] and San Saba
1-10     counties.
1-11           (b) [(c)]  The terms of the 33rd District Court begin:
1-12                 (1)  in Blanco County on the first Mondays in February
1-13     and September;
1-14                 (2)  in Burnet County on the fourth Mondays in April
1-15     and November;
1-16                 (3)  in Llano County on the first Mondays in April and
1-17     November; and
1-18                 (4)  [in Mason County on the second Mondays in January
1-19     and June; and]
1-20                 [(5)]  in San Saba County on the second Mondays in
1-21     March and October.
1-22           SECTION 2.   Section 24.377, Government Code, is amended to
1-23     read as follows:
1-24           Sec. 24.377.  198TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT ([CONCHO,] KERR,
 2-1     KIMBLE, MCCULLOCH, MASON, AND MENARD COUNTIES).  (a)  The 198th
 2-2     Judicial District is composed of [Concho,] Kerr, Kimble, McCulloch,
 2-3     Mason, and Menard counties.
 2-4           (b)  The judge of the 198th District Court may select jury
 2-5     commissioners and impanel grand juries in each county.  The judge
 2-6     of the 198th District Court may alternate the drawing of grand
 2-7     juries with the judge of any other district court in each county
 2-8     within his district and may order grand and petit juries to be
 2-9     drawn for any term of his court as in his judgment is necessary, by
2-10     an order entered in the minutes of the court.  Indictments within
2-11     each county may be returned to either court within that county.
2-12           SECTION 3.  Subsections (d) and (g), Section 74.042,
2-13     Government Code, are amended to read as follows:
2-14           (d)  The Third Administrative Judicial Region is composed of
2-15     the counties of Austin, Bell, Blanco, Bosque, Burnet, Caldwell,
2-16     Colorado, Comal, Comanche, Coryell, Falls, Fayette, Gonzales,
2-17     Guadalupe, Hamilton, Hays, Hill, Johnson, Lampasas, Lavaca, Llano,
2-18     [Mason,] McLennan, Milam, Navarro, San Saba, Somervell, Travis, and
2-19     Williamson.
2-20           (g)  The Sixth Administrative Judicial Region is composed of
2-21     the counties of Bandera, Brewster, Crockett, Culberson, Edwards, El
2-22     Paso, Gillespie, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble,
2-23     Kinney, Mason, Medina, Pecos, Presidio, Reagan, Real, Sutton,
2-24     Terrell, Upton, Uvalde, and Val Verde.
2-25           SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1999.
