1-8 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-9 AN ACT
1-10 relating to the composition of the 33rd and 198th judicial
1-11 districts and the composition of the Third and Sixth administrative
1-12 judicial regions.
1-13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-14 SECTION 1. Section 24.135, Government Code, is amended to
1-15 read as follows:
1-16 Sec. 24.135. 33RD JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BLANCO, BURNET, LLANO,
1-17 [MASON,] AND SAN SABA COUNTIES). (a) The 33rd Judicial District
1-18 is composed of Blanco, Burnet, Llano, [Mason,] and San Saba
1-19 counties.
1-20 (b) [(c)] The terms of the 33rd District Court begin:
1-21 (1) in Blanco County on the first Mondays in February
1-22 and September;
1-23 (2) in Burnet County on the fourth Mondays in April
1-24 and November;
1-25 (3) in Llano County on the first Mondays in April and
1-26 November; and
1-27 (4) [in Mason County on the second Mondays in January
1-28 and June; and]
1-29 [(5)] in San Saba County on the second Mondays in
1-30 March and October.
1-31 SECTION 2. Section 24.377, Government Code, is amended to
1-32 read as follows:
1-33 Sec. 24.377. 198TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT ([CONCHO,] KERR,
1-34 KIMBLE, MCCULLOCH, MASON, AND MENARD COUNTIES). (a) The 198th
1-35 Judicial District is composed of [Concho,] Kerr, Kimble, McCulloch,
1-36 Mason, and Menard counties.
1-37 (b) The judge of the 198th District Court may select jury
1-38 commissioners and impanel grand juries in each county. The judge
1-39 of the 198th District Court may alternate the drawing of grand
1-40 juries with the judge of any other district court in each county
1-41 within his district and may order grand and petit juries to be
1-42 drawn for any term of his court as in his judgment is necessary, by
1-43 an order entered in the minutes of the court. Indictments within
1-44 each county may be returned to either court within that county.
1-45 SECTION 3. Subsections (d) and (g), Section 74.042,
1-46 Government Code, are amended to read as follows:
1-47 (d) The Third Administrative Judicial Region is composed of
1-48 the counties of Austin, Bell, Blanco, Bosque, Burnet, Caldwell,
1-49 Colorado, Comal, Comanche, Coryell, Falls, Fayette, Gonzales,
1-50 Guadalupe, Hamilton, Hays, Hill, Johnson, Lampasas, Lavaca, Llano,
1-51 [Mason,] McLennan, Milam, Navarro, San Saba, Somervell, Travis, and
1-52 Williamson.
1-53 (g) The Sixth Administrative Judicial Region is composed of
1-54 the counties of Bandera, Brewster, Crockett, Culberson, Edwards, El
1-55 Paso, Gillespie, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble,
1-56 Kinney, Mason, Medina, Pecos, Presidio, Reagan, Real, Sutton,
1-57 Terrell, Upton, Uvalde, and Val Verde.
1-58 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999.
