                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                       AN ACT
 1-1     relating to the deposit that a governmental body may require under
 1-2     the open records law before preparing copies of certain
 1-3     information.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 552.263(a), Government Code, is amended
 1-6     to read as follows:
 1-7           (a)  An officer for public information or the officer's agent
 1-8     may require a deposit or bond for payment of anticipated costs for
 1-9     the preparation of a copy of public information if the charge for
1-10     providing the copy of the public information specifically requested
1-11     by the requestor is estimated by the governmental body to exceed:
1-12                 (1)  $100, if the governmental body employs more than
1-13     15 full-time employees; or
1-14                 (2)  $50, if the governmental body employs 15 or fewer
1-15     full-time employees.
