                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                       AN ACT
1-1 relating to forming a professional association for the practice of
 1-2 dentistry.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4 SECTION 1. Subsection (A), Section 2, Professional
1-5 Association Act (Article 1528f, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is
1-6 amended to read as follows:
1-7 (A) Formation. Any one or more persons duly licensed to
1-8 practice a profession, including podiatry or dentistry, under the
1-9 laws of this state may, by complying with this Act, form a
1-10 professional association, as distinguished from either a
1-11 partnership or a corporation, by associating themselves for the
1-12 purpose of performing professional services and dividing the gains
1-13 therefrom as stated in articles of association or bylaws.
1-14 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999.
1-15 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-16 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-17 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-18 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-19 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
