No. 1085 1-2 (In the Senate - Filed March 9, 1999; March 11, 1999, read 1-3 first time and referred to Committee on Health Services; 1-4 April 7, 1999, reported favorably by the following vote: Yeas 5, 1-5 Nays 0; April 7, 1999, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to forming a professional association for the practice of 1-9 dentistry. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Subsection (A), Section 2, Professional 1-12 Association Act (Article 1528f, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is 1-13 amended to read as follows: 1-14 (A) Formation. Any one or more persons duly licensed to 1-15 practice a profession, including podiatry or dentistry, under the 1-16 laws of this state may, by complying with this Act, form a 1-17 professional association, as distinguished from either a 1-18 partnership or a corporation, by associating themselves for the 1-19 purpose of performing professional services and dividing the gains 1-20 therefrom as stated in articles of association or bylaws. 1-21 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999. 1-22 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-23 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-24 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-25 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-26 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended. 1-27 * * * * *
