No. 1176 1-2 (In the Senate - Filed March 10, 1999; March 11, 1999, read 1-3 first time and referred to Committee on State Affairs; 1-4 April 16, 1999, reported favorably by the following vote: Yeas 9, 1-5 Nays 0; April 16, 1999, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the issuance of special license plates in honor of the 1-9 YMCA in Texas. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 502, Transportation Code, 1-12 is amended by adding Section 502.299 to read as follows: 1-13 Sec. 502.299. TEXAS YMCA. (a) The department shall issue 1-14 specially designed license plates for passenger cars and light 1-15 trucks in honor of the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA). 1-16 (b) The department shall issue license plates under this 1-17 section to a person who: 1-18 (1) applies to the county assessor-collector of the 1-19 county in which the person resides on a form provided by the 1-20 department; and 1-21 (2) pays the annual fee established by the department 1-22 under Subsection (c), in addition to the fee prescribed by Section 1-23 502.161, and, if personalized prestige license plates are issued, 1-24 in addition to the fee prescribed by Section 502.251. 1-25 (c) The department by rule shall establish the annual fee 1-26 for registration under this section in an amount that, when added 1-27 to the other fees collected by the department, does not exceed the 1-28 amount sufficient to recover the actual cost to the department of 1-29 issuing license plates under this section. 1-30 SECTION 2.
