No. 1256 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT 1-1 relating to the provision of certain tax information to a crime 1-2 control and prevention district. 1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-4 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 323, Tax Code, is amended 1-5 by adding Section 323.3022 to read as follows: 1-6 Sec. 323.3022. CRIME CONTROL DISTRICT TAX INFORMATION. 1-7 (a) The comptroller on request shall provide to a crime control 1-8 and prevention district that has adopted a tax under this chapter 1-9 information relating to the amount of tax paid to the district 1-10 under this chapter during the preceding or current calendar year by 1-11 each person doing business in the area of the district who annually 1-12 remits to the comptroller state and local sales tax payments of 1-13 more than $100,000. 1-14 (b) A request for information under this section must be 1-15 made in writing by the district's chief administrative officer. 1-16 (c) Information received by a district under this section is 1-17 confidential, is not open to public inspection, and may be used 1-18 only for the purpose of economic forecasting. 1-19 (d) The comptroller may set and collect from a district 1-20 reasonable fees to cover the expense of compiling and providing 1-21 information under this section. 1-22 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999. 1-23 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-24 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 2-1 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 2-2 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 2-3 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
