A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the composition of the El Paso County Juvenile Board.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 152.0771(a), Human Resources Code, is
1-5 amended to read as follows:
1-6 (a) The juvenile board of El Paso County is composed of:
1-7 (1) the county judge;
1-8 (2) each family district court judge;
1-9 (3) each juvenile court judge; [and]
1-10 (4) up to five judges on the "El Paso Council of
1-11 Judges" to be elected by [a] majority vote of that [said] council;
1-12 (5) the presiding municipal judge from the City of El
1-13 Paso; and
1-14 (6) a justice of the peace in El Paso County, selected
1-15 by majority vote of all of the justices of the peace in the county.
1-16 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999.
1-17 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-18 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-19 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-20 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-21 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
