No. 1420 76R9243 T A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to authorizing the Board of Regents of The University of 1-3 Texas System to acquire by purchase, exchange, gift, or otherwise 1-4 certain properties to be used for campus expansion and university 1-5 purposes in The University of Texas System. 1-6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-7 SECTION 1. The Board of Regents of The University of Texas 1-8 System is hereby authorized to acquire by purchase, exchange, gift, 1-9 or otherwise, for campus expansion and for other University 1-10 purposes, all or any part of the land described as: (a) A tract 1-11 of land containing 64.16 acres more or less, in the City of 1-12 Edinburg, Texas, being all of Lot 10, the West 20 acres of Lot 9, 1-13 and the East 361 feet of the South 659 feet of Lot 14, all in 1-14 Section 242, Texas-Mexican Railway Company Survey, per map recorded 1-15 in Volume 1, Page 12, Deed Records of said County, together with 1-16 all street, alleys, alleyways, railroads, thoroughfares, whether or 1-17 not vacated lying within or adjoining said 64.16 acre tract of 1-18 land, specifically including but not limited to all those portions 1-19 of Schunior, Garner and Chapin Streets, and Sugar Road. 1-20 (b) A tract of land containing 10.5 acres, more or less, out 1-21 of Lots 1 and 4 Black A, Section 242 as shown on Edinburg Original 1-22 Townsite Map, recorded in Volume 1, Page 3, Map Records of Hidalgo 1-23 County, Texas, said 10.5 acre tract of land being that certain 1-24 portion of land in said Lots 1 and 4 lying West of the centerline 2-1 of First Avenue together with all streets, alleys, alleyways, 2-2 railroads, thoroughfares, whether or not vacated lying within or 2-3 adjoining said 10.5 acre tract of land, specifically including but 2-4 not limited to all those portions of Schunior, Chavez, Cooper, 2-5 Smith, and Garner Street, and 1st Avenue. 2-6 (c) A tract of land containing 26.7 acres, more or less, in 2-7 the City of Edinburg, Texas, being Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Block 2-8 Ninety Four (94), Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8 of block One Hundred and 2-9 Twenty Seven (127), Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Block One Hundred and 2-10 Thirty Eight (138), Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Block One Hundred and 2-11 Seventy One (171), Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Block One Hundred and 2-12 Eighty Two (182), Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Block Two Hundred and 2-13 Fifteen (215), Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8 if Block Two Hundred and Twenty 2-14 Six (226), all of Blocks One Hundred and Fifty Nine (159), One 2-15 Hundred and Seventy (170), One Hundred and Eighty Three (183), One 2-16 Hundred and Sixty Nine (169), and the North 280 feet of Block One 2-17 Hundred and Eighty Four (184), all in Edinburg Original Townsite 2-18 Map, recorded in Volume 1, Page 23, Map Records of Hidalgo County, 2-19 Texas; together with all streets, alleys, alleyways, railroads, 2-20 thoroughfares, whether or not vacated lying within or adjoining 2-21 said 10.5 acre tract of land, specifically including but not 2-22 limited to all those portions of Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth 2-23 Avenues, and Schunior, Van Week, Lovette, Peter, Loeb, Kuhn, 2-24 McIntyre and Harriman Streets, and the Southern Pacific Railroad. 2-25 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 2-26 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 2-27 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 3-1 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 3-2 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 3-3 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 3-4 passage, and it is so enacted.
