AN ACT
 1-1     relating to recognizing July as Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Month.
 1-2           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-3           SECTION 1.  The chapter heading to Chapter 662, Government
 1-4     Code, is amended to read as follows:
 1-5              CHAPTER 662.  HOLIDAYS AND RECOGNITION DAYS AND MONTHS
 1-6           SECTION 2.  Chapter 662, Government Code, is amended by
 1-7     adding Subchapter D to read as follows:
 1-8                      SUBCHAPTER D.  RECOGNITION MONTHS
 1-9           Sec. 662.101.  BUFFALO SOLDIERS HERITAGE MONTH.  (a)  July is
1-10     Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Month in honor of the bravery and
1-11     dedication of Texas' Buffalo Soldiers and in recognition of their
1-12     contribution to the legendary history of the Lone Star State.
1-13           (b)  Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Month shall be regularly
1-14     observed by appropriate ceremonies and activities.
1-15           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-16     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-17     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-18     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-19     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-20     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-21     passage, and it is so enacted.
