                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                       AN ACT
 1-1     relating to certain provisions of disabilities of minority.
 1-2     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-3     SECTION 1.  Section 31.005, Family Court, is amended to read as
 1-4     follows:
 1-5     The court may remove the disabilities of minority of a minor if the
 1-6     court finds the removal to be in the best interest of the
 1-7     petitioner, including any restriction imposed by Chapter 32, Family
 1-8     Code, pursuant to rules or orders adopted by the Texas Supreme
 1-9     Court.  The order must state the limited or general purposes for
1-10     which disabilities are removed.
1-11     SECTION 2.  This act takes effect September 1, 1999.
1-12     SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the crowded
1-13     condition of the calendars in both houses create an emergency and
1-14     an imperative public necessity that the constitutional rule
1-15     requiring bills to be read on three several days in each house be
1-16     suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
