                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                       AN ACT
 1-1     relating to commission of peace officers at the Texas School for
 1-2     the Deaf.
 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4           SECTION 1.  Section 30.052 will be amended by adding
 1-5     subsection (1) to read:
 1-6           (1)  The Governing Board of the Texas School for the Deaf may
 1-7     employ security personnel and may commission peace officers in the
 1-8     same manner as a board of trustees of a school district under the
 1-9     Texas Education Code 37.081.
1-10           SECTION 2.  This Act will take effect August 31, 1999.
1-11           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-12     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-13     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-14     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-15     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
