No. 1766 By: Nelson 1-8 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-9 AN ACT 1-10 relating to the commissioning of peace officers at the Texas School 1-11 for the Deaf. 1-12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-13 SECTION 1. Section 30.052, Education Code, is amended by 1-14 adding Subsection (l) to read as follows: 1-15 (l) The governing board of the Texas School for the Deaf may 1-16 employ security personnel and may commission peace officers in the 1-17 same manner as a board of trustees of a school district under 1-18 Section 37.081. 1-19 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect August 31, 1999. 1-20 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-21 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-22 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-23 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-24 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended. 1-25 * * * * *
