1-9 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-10 AN ACT
1-11 relating to terms of community supervision for violation of an

1-13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-14 SECTION 1. Section 157.212, Family Code, is amended to read
1-15 as follows:
1-16 Sec. 157.212. TERM OF COMMUNITY SUPERVISION. The community

1-18 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999, and
1-19 applies only to an order providing for community supervision that
1-20 is rendered on or after that date. An order that is rendered
1-21 before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in
1-22 effect on the date the order was rendered, and the former law is
1-23 continued in effect for that purpose.
1-24 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-25 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-26 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-27 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-28 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
