No. 34 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The brave men and women who proudly served in the 1-2 Korean War are deserving of our utmost respect and should be held 1-3 in the highest regard for the sacrifices they made for the cause of 1-4 freedom; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Korean War was a significant historical event in 1-6 which many Americans gave their lives in the struggle to prevent 1-7 the spread of communism throughout Asia, yet this important war 1-8 suffers from a misconception that it was a conflict, when it was 1-9 indeed a war; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The issue of educating the public that the Korean 1-11 War was indeed a war and not simply a conflict, and Korean War 1-12 veterans are indeed veterans and not simply Korean War 1-13 participants, was approved by the Texas Lone Star Chapter of the 1-14 Korean War Veterans Association and later endorsed by the Texas 1-15 Coalition of Veterans Organizations; and 1-16 WHEREAS, It is vital that the Texas Legislature help to 1-17 enlighten the populace to the correct nomenclature pertaining to 1-18 the Korean War and its veterans so that the public will give these 1-19 courageous soldiers who sacrificed so much the recognition they 1-20 have so rightly earned; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-22 hereby respectfully support the efforts of the Texas Lone Star 1-23 Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association in its public 1-24 education efforts regarding the Korean War.
