SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas mourns the
 1-2     loss of Reverend Julius Lee Jackson, Sr., who died February 15,
 1-3     1999, at the age of 60; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, The beloved dynamic  pastor of Macedonia Missionary
 1-5     Baptist Church in Benbrook for 26 years, Reverend Jackson was an
 1-6     untiring teacher and preacher who organized theological schools in
 1-7     both Fort Worth and Abilene to provide more resources for the
 1-8     teaching of  God's word and also authored A Biblical View of
 1-9     Pastoral Authority to help teach ministers and their congregations;
1-10     and
1-11           WHEREAS, In addition to his affinity for people and his
1-12     desire to minister to the needs of others, his extensive
1-13     theological training enabled Reverend Jackson to develop successful
1-14     techniques to touch other lives; he received two theology degrees
1-15     at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, his doctor of
1-16     philosophy degree from Clayton University, and a master of theology
1-17     degree from Anchor Seminary and Bible Institute; and
1-18           WHEREAS, In addition to his years selflessly counseling and
1-19     ministering to his congregation and initiating help for the social
1-20     concerns of families and communities, Reverend Jackson had
1-21     selflessly served his country as well, as a marine in Vietnam; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Reverend Jackson was devoted to his family and
1-23     leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family
1-24     and friends; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-2     hereby extend sincere condolences to the family of Reverend Julius
 2-3     Lee Jackson, Sr.:  his wife, Reda; his sons, Julius and Randy; his
 2-4     daughter, L'Tonya; his stepchildren, Willis, Kelly, and Keisha; his
 2-5     parents, Reverend Preston Green and Mary Green; his sisters,
 2-6     Georgia and Julia; and his nine grandchildren; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the
 2-8     members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
 2-9     Texas Legislature, and that when the legislature adjourns this day,
2-10     it do so in memory of Julius Lee Jackson, Sr.
