SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, Tuesday, March 30, 1999, has been selected by the
 1-2     citizens of Waco as a special day to gather at the State Capitol to
 1-3     recognize and celebrate the contributions of Waco to the heritage
 1-4     of the State of Texas; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Waco, initially a frontier town and major
 1-6     thoroughfare for cowboys and their herds on the Chisholm Trail, is
 1-7     celebrating its 150th anniversary this year; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Rich in tradition and history, the city boasts a
 1-9     number of diverse attractions such as the Texas Ranger Hall of
1-10     Fame, Texas Sports Hall of Fame, Dr Pepper Museum, Cameron Park,
1-11     Indian Spring Park, and Helen Marie Taylor Museum; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Waco is proud to be the home of Baylor University,
1-13     the oldest continuously operated university in Texas; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Waco is justifiably proud of its history, culture,
1-15     progressive development, and contributions to the heritage of the
1-16     State of Texas; and
1-17           WHEREAS, This special day is an appropriate occasion for the
1-18     Texas Senate and House of Representatives to recognize the citizens
1-19     of Waco and to commend them for their notable endeavors and
1-20     achievements; now, therefore, be it
1-21           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
1-22     hereby declare March 30, 1999, as Waco Day at the State Capitol and
1-23     join Waco residents as they celebrate their city's greatness; and,
1-24     be it further
 2-1           RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the
 2-2     citizens of Waco as an expression of the recognition and
 2-3     appreciation of the Texas Legislature.
