No. 81 1-2 (In the Senate - Filed May 13, 1999; May 13, 1999, read first 1-3 time and referred to Committee on Natural Resources; May 14, 1999, 1-4 reported favorably by the following vote: Yeas 4, Nays 0; 1-5 May 14, 1999, sent to printer.) 1-6 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-7 WHEREAS, Texas has been blessed with an abundance of natural 1-8 resources; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The enjoyment of Texas' natural resources is an 1-10 economic asset throughout the state; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The mission of the Texas Parks and Wildlife 1-12 Department is to preserve and protect the natural resources of 1-13 Texas; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Dedicated funding currently provided to the Texas 1-15 Parks and Wildlife Department is insufficient to preserve and 1-16 protect the natural resources of this great state; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The enjoyment of our natural resources by future 1-18 generations of Texans is dependent on adequate and secure funding; 1-19 and 1-20 WHEREAS, The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will be 1-21 undergoing the sunset review process during the upcoming interim; 1-22 now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-24 hereby direct that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the 1-25 Sunset Advisory Commission shall include a review of appropriate 1-26 sources of dedicated funding for financing the programs 1-27 administered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in the 1-28 sunset review process; and, be it further 1-29 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-30 prepared and forwarded to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission 1-31 and the Sunset Advisory Commission. 1-32 * * * * *
