                            SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas is proud to
 1-2     recognize the artistic talent of Shannel Woodard and her skillful
 1-3     painting, "Austin Highlights"; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, The  vista as one drives north on Congress Avenue is
 1-5     indeed inspiring; the Capitol, flanked on either side by the modern
 1-6     Austin skyline, creates a distinctive juxtaposition, a tapestry of
 1-7     past pride, of present prosperity, and of future progress which is
 1-8     the very essence of Texas; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, In her painting, "Austin Highlights," Shannel
1-10     Woodard captured this view, which is so replete with meaning for
1-11     Texans, on canvas; using morning as her backdrop, she utilized the
1-12     techniques of Monet and Picasso to emphasize soft color
1-13     combinations; her efforts resulted in a truly noteworthy painting;
1-14     and
1-15           WHEREAS, "Austin Highlights" is a lovely depiction of a most
1-16     Texan of scenes; Shannel Woodard's painting bespeaks not only her
1-17     personal love and pride for Texas, but that of all citizens across
1-18     the state; it is only fitting that her work be honored; now,
1-19     therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 76th
1-21     Legislature, recognize "Austin Highlights" as a commemorative
1-22     painting of the 76th Legislature; and, be it further
1-23           RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for
1-24     Shannel Woodard as an expression of esteem from the Texas
 2-1     Legislature.
