 1-3                                     of
 1-4                              Charles A. Deason
 1-5           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the family
 1-6     and friends of Charles A. Deason in mourning the loss of this
 1-7     distinguished citizen, who died on December 26, 1998; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Charles Deason was born in Roswell, New Mexico, on
 1-9     October 10, 1910; he entered the United States Army in 1927 in
1-10     El Paso; and
1-11           WHEREAS, He was assigned to the 23rd Infantry at
1-12     Fort Sam Houston, followed by a tour at Fort Washington, Maryland;
1-13     during World War II he served in the China-Burma-India theater and
1-14     returned to Fort Sam Houston; and
1-15           WHEREAS, After 39 years on active duty in Germany, France,
1-16     Washington, D.C., Fort Sam Houston, Thailand, Fort Knox, Kentucky,
1-17     and Fort Hood, he retired in 1966; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Charles Deason was a respected leader in his
1-19     community; he was a member of the San Antonio Retired Officers
1-20     Association and twice served as its president; and
1-21           WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
1-22     gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and
1-23     valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Charles Deason was a devoted husband and father,
 2-1     and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
 2-2     family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-4     76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to
 2-5     the bereaved family of Charles Deason:  his wife, June Deason;
 2-6     his daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Tom Hitselberger; his
 2-7     son and daughter-in-law, Charles A. Deason, Jr., and Linda Deason;
 2-8     and his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and, be
 2-9     it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
2-11     members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
2-12     Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
2-13     in memory of Charles A. Deason.
