1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 14
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
 1-3     recognizing the Kmart Distribution Center in Corsicana on its
 1-4     outstanding accomplishments in safety; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The Kmart Distribution Center is hosting a luncheon
 1-6     on January 22, 1999, in celebration of the new record the center
 1-7     has set by working one million hours without a lost-time injury;
 1-8     and
 1-9           WHEREAS, The luncheon will be attended by several
1-10     administrators from the corporate  office located in
1-11     Troy, Michigan; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The Kmart Distribution Center consists of
1-13     approximately 850 associates serving 148 Kmart stores in a
1-14     five-state region; the center ships 650,000  cartons of
1-15     merchandise every week and provides an annual payroll of
1-16     about $18 million per year; and
1-17           WHEREAS, The largest employer in Navarro County, the
1-18     center is one of 13 hardline distribution centers located
1-19     throughout the United States and is the second center to
1-20     reach the one million hour mark without a lost-time injury;
1-21     and
1-22           WHEREAS, The Kmart Distribution Center is respected
1-23     throughout the country for its high standards and effective
1-24     business practices; the center was chosen by the Corsicana
 2-1     Chamber of Commerce and the Corsicana Industrial Foundation
 2-2     as the Industry of the Month for December of 1998; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, The executives of the center consistently strive
 2-4     for excellence in all areas of operation, and they and the
 2-5     center's dedicated employees deserve to be proud of their
 2-6     superior achievements in safety; now, therefore, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-8     76th Legislature, hereby commend the Kmart Distribution Center
 2-9     on its exceptional success and extend congratulations to all
2-10     associated with the center on reaching this one million mark;
2-11     and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-13     the center as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
