1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 28
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
 1-3     recognizing the members of the American Leadership Forum on the
 1-4     occasion of their visit to the Capitol on January 26; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Founded by Houston lawyer Joe Jaworski in 1980,
 1-6     this organization has five chapters across the nation; in the
 1-7     Houston/Gulf Coast Chapter over 200 established leaders have
 1-8     completed the program; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Each year 20 to 25 leaders are selected as fellows
1-10     for the yearlong program; the class represents the ethnic and
1-11     gender makeup of the population, including leaders from such
1-12     diverse fields as government, business, education, religion,
1-13     and the arts; and
1-14           WHEREAS, The American Leadership Forum Program gives monthly
1-15     seminars on collaboration, consensus, conflict management, and
1-16     ethics; fellows participate in a five-day wilderness experience
1-17     in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, where they practice teamwork and
1-18     learn to trust themselves and others; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Led by Executive Director Louise Howell, the
1-20     Houston/Gulf Coast Chapter has selected its fellows for this
1-21     year:  Karen Becerra, Linda Benge, Laurie Bricker, Robert Carlquist,
1-22     Theresa Chang, Jack Doherty, Maria Ferris, Senator Mario Gallegos,
1-23     Laurens Hall, Cecile Harrison, Russell Jackson, Herbert Karpicke,
1-24     Catherine Lamboley, Andrea Logans, Katharine Lord, Rick Lowe,
 2-1     Jacqueline Martin, Sheralyn Merfish, Robert Miller, Dan Nip,
 2-2     Richard Ramirez, Frank Rossi, Randhir Sahni, John Spear,
 2-3     Richard Torres, and Jerri Workman; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, The American Leadership Forum benefits all who
 2-5     participate by motivating leaders to serve their communities
 2-6     more effectively; now, therefore, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-8     76th Legislature, hereby commend the American Leadership Forum
 2-9     for its contributions to our state and to our nation and extend
2-10     best wishes to them for an enjoyable visit to the Capitol; and,
2-11     be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-13     the American Leadership Forum as an expression of esteem from
2-14     the Texas Senate.
