1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 35
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate takes great pride in recognizing
 1-3     Leadership Lewisville from Lewisville, Texas; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce,
 1-5     Leadership Lewisville is part of the Community Development Division
 1-6     of the chamber; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, The objectives of the program are to:  provide a
 1-8     unique educational experience; develop leadership skills; motivate
 1-9     emerging leaders; acquire a working knowledge of the community; and
1-10     become aware of leadership opportunities in the area; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Anyone who works or resides in the greater Lewisville
1-12     area is eligible to apply for admission to the program; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Managed by the Leadership Lewisville Steering
1-14     Committee, the program requires students to attend one school board
1-15     meeting and one city council meeting during the nine-month session;
1-16     and
1-17           WHEREAS, Learning the inner workings of private and public
1-18     institutions and finding how and where one might make contributions
1-19     to the community are the desired ends of the undertaking; and
1-20           WHEREAS, The class of 20 to 30 members is chosen without
1-21     regard to race, gender, age, education, and personal or employment
1-22     affiliations; now, therefore, be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
1-24     76th Legislature, hereby commend Leadership Lewisville for its
 2-1     innovative and thorough approach to preparing citizens for prominent
 2-2     roles in their community; and, be it further
 2-3           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 2-4     Leadership Lewisville as an expression of the high regard of the
 2-5     Texas Senate.
