1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 49 1-2 WHEREAS, On January 26, 1999, participants in the Leadership 1-3 Lubbock program will journey to the State Capitol, and their 1-4 presence in Austin affords the members of this chamber an 1-5 opportunity to recognize this organization's outstanding work; 1-6 and 1-7 WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1976, Leadership Lubbock 1-8 has trained men and women from every walk of life to effectively 1-9 identify and respond to the needs of their communities; the 1-10 program provides the opportunity to meet with business, civic, 1-11 and government leaders to discuss a variety of issues, and 1-12 in doing so participants learn more about the challenges and 1-13 opportunities facing Texas today; and 1-14 WHEREAS, While in Austin, members of the organization will 1-15 observe the Texas Senate in session, tour the historic grounds 1-16 of the Capitol, and confer with members of their legislative 1-17 delegation, and the day's activities promise to be as informative 1-18 as they are enjoyable; and 1-19 WHEREAS, The interest of these citizens in the operation 1-20 of state government, and in particular the legislative process, 1-21 merits special recognition, as this type of commitment and 1-22 dedication forms the very backbone of the democratic process; 1-23 now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 76th Legislature, hereby recognize Leadership Lubbock as an 2-2 outstanding civic program and extend a warm welcome to its 2-3 visiting members; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be 2-5 prepared for Leadership Lubbock as a commemoration of this 2-6 occasion and as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate. 2-7 Duncan 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the above 2-11 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-12 on January 26, 1999. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
