1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 64 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Mr. and Mrs. John D. Jackson, Sr., who are being 1-4 inducted into The Marriage Ministry of Mount Moriah Missionary 1-5 Baptist Church on February 12, 1999, for celebrating their 1-6 golden anniversary in 1998; and 1-7 WHEREAS, John and Maggie met in Houston and were married 1-8 April 15, 1948, in Haynesville, Louisiana, at the home of the 1-9 bride's parents; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the 1-11 years of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Jackson have continued 1-12 to embrace traditional family and moral values; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The marriage of the anniversary couple was blessed 1-14 with four children, John, Jr., Priscilla Bellard, Kelvin, and 1-15 Loy Denice Johnson; the couple's children have presented them 1-16 with 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Maggie Jackson worked at Houston Community 1-18 College, and John D. Jackson worked for the United States Postal 1-19 Service for almost 40 years; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Devout in their religious observance, 1-21 John Jackson's favorite psalm is Psalm 8, and Maggie has as her 1-22 favorites all of the psalms; they both chose for their favorite 1-23 hymn "Guide Me Oh Thou Great Jehovah"; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 76th Legislature, hereby congratulate this distinguished couple 2-2 on their induction into The Marriage Ministry of Mount Moriah 2-3 Missionary Baptist Church; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-5 Mr. and Mrs. John D.
