matrimony on December 4, 1948, in the Byrd community; and 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 96 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is honored to 1-3 extend heartfelt congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Bates 1-4 of Ennis on the joyful occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, Fred Bates and Nancy Idlett were united in holy 1-7 matrimony on December 4, 1948, in the Byrd community; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Residents of Ennis, Texas, since their marriage, 1-9 Mr. Bates is a retired farmer, General Motors millwright, and 1-10 veteran of World War II, and Mrs. Bates is retired from Ennis 1-11 Business Forms, Incorporated, and is a homemaker; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The world has changed greatly during the intervening 1-13 years, yet Mr. and Mrs. Bates have steadfastly embraced traditional 1-14 family and moral values; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Bates have been blessed with a 2-1 wonderful family; their children, Nena and Ollie Harwell, 2-2 Michael and Renee Bates, and LouAnn and Guy Sibley, have 2-3 gifted them with seven grandchildren, Callie, Collin, Jeremy, 2-4 Ashley, Shelby, Katie, and Reid; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Fred and Nancy Bates shared their happiness with 2-6 their family and friends at a reception hosted by their children 2-7 and grandchildren on December 6, 1998, at the Harrison Bed and 2-8 Breakfast in Waxahachie; now, therefore, be it 2-9 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-10 76th Legislature, hereby recognize Mr. and Mrs. Fred L.
