 1-3                                  In Memory
 1-4                                     of
 1-5                            Suzie Pena Sutherland
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with the
 1-7     citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Suzie Pena Sutherland,
 1-8     who died suddenly on October 29, l998, at the age of 65; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, The Public Utility Commission lost a dear friend; for
1-10     the past 15 years, Suzie served the commission as an administrative
1-11     assistant, office manager, organizer, and "general mom"; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Suzie Sutherland left a legacy of strict work
1-13     ethics, mixed with care and support for her coworkers, emphasizing
1-14     teamwork, having pride in your work and yourself, never burning any
1-15     bridges, and never expecting anything from others that you do not
1-16     expect from yourself; and
1-17           WHEREAS, When the new Office of Customer Protection was
1-18     created in the Public Utility Commission,  Suzie assumed office
1-19     management responsibilities for the expanded division, and recently
1-20     in recognition of her outstanding public service, a conference room
1-21     was named the "Suzie Sutherland Hospitality Conference Room" in her
1-22     memory; and
1-23           WHEREAS,  A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, she
1-24     gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth,
 2-1     and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her;
 2-2     now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-4     76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
 2-5     bereaved family of Suzie Sutherland:  her sons, John, Jay,
 2-6     and Glenn Sutherland; and her six grandchildren; and, be it
 2-7     further
 2-8           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
 2-9     members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
2-10     the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it
2-11     do so in memory of Suzie Pena Sutherland.
