1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 115 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Manuel Lombrana 1-6 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens 1-7 of San Angelo in mourning the death of Manuel "MeMe" Lombrana, who 1-8 died December 31, 1998, at the age of 53; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Mr. Lombrana was born on February 14, 1945, in 1-10 San Angelo, Texas, where he attended Central High before graduating 1-11 in 1965; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mr. Lombrana was dedicated to his work as a sewing 1-13 machine specialist at Levi Strauss where he was a valued employee 1-14 for 28 years; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, he was a member of the 1-16 Knights of Columbus and a past member of the American G.I. Forum; 1-17 and 1-18 WHEREAS, MeMe and his band, Grupo Amistad, brought joy to all 1-19 who heard their mariachi music; he performed with the band in 1-20 San Angelo for Fiesta del Concho; Grupo Amistad received an award 1-21 of recognition in 1996 from the San Angelo City Council; and 1-22 WHEREAS, An avid golfer and a member of the Pan American Golf 1-23 Association, MeMe enjoyed traveling to golf tournaments around the 1-24 country with his friends; and 2-1 WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman, MeMe was 2-2 respected for his many accomplishments and was a beloved leader in 2-3 his community; and 2-4 WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he 2-5 gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and 2-6 valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and 2-7 WHEREAS, MeMe was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves 2-8 behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and 2-9 friends; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-11 76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family of 2-12 Manuel Lombrana: his wife, Rosie; his daughter, Gina; his grandson, 2-13 Ray; his mother, Beatrice; his foster daughter, Amy Jasper; his 2-14 brothers, Joe, Henry, Thomas, John, and Bobby; and his sisters, 2-15 Estella, Mary, Margie, and Alice; and, be it further 2-16 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-17 members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the 2-18 Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so 2-19 in memory of Manuel "MeMe" Lombrana. 2-20 Wentworth 2-21 ______________________________________ 2-22 President of the Senate 2-23 I hereby certify that the above 2-24 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-25 on February 1, 1999, by a rising vote. 2-26 ______________________________________ 2-27 Secretary of the Senate 2-28 ______________________________________ 2-29 Member, Texas Senate
