1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 123 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-3 recognize the Caldwell High School girls volleyball team for 1-4 winning the Class 3A state championship; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Lady Hornets won two out of three games against 1-6 the Lamesa Lady Tornados by scores of 15-2, 13-15, and 15-9 in 1-7 Austin; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The thrilling win was the first time a Caldwell 1-9 girls volleyball team won a state championship; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Their successful year is a tribute to the girls' 1-11 outstanding talent and the loyal team spirit they consistently 1-12 displayed; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The Lady Hornets volleyball team's notable success 1-14 is attributable to the exceptional guidance of the coaching staff 1-15 and to the competitive spirit that characterized the overall 1-16 performances of the team members and their coach, Caroline Simpson, 1-17 and her assistant coaches, Wendy Weiss and Marla Mitchell; and 1-18 WHEREAS, These young athletes and their coaches have 1-19 brought honor to themselves, Caldwell High School, and their 1-20 community; the Lady Hornets are certainly worthy of the 1-21 recognition bestowed on them; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-23 76th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the Caldwell High School 1-24 Lady Hornets volleyball team and their coaches for winning the 2-1 1998 Class 3A state championship; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-3 the team members and the coaching staff as an expression of the 2-4 highest regard of the Texas Senate. 2-5 Ogden 2-6 ______________________________________ 2-7 President of the Senate 2-8 I hereby certify that the above 2-9 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-10 on February 2, 1999. 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 Secretary of the Senate 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Member, Texas Senate
