1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 138 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-4 recognizing the Children's Miracle Network Champions, a 1-5 nonprofit organization that raises funds for the health care 1-6 of millions of children through its 170 affiliated hospitals; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The Children's Miracle Network began in 1983 with a 1-8 fund raising television special broadcast by 30 television 1-9 stations; today, the fund raising campaign and broadcast are both 1-10 called Children's Miracle Network Champions, and the organization 1-11 produces the largest television fund raiser in the world; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Now benefitting 170 hospitals, Children's Miracle 1-13 Network Champions airs over a network of 200 television stations 1-14 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico and annually benefits 12 1-15 million children; in 16 years, the Children's Miracle Network has 1-16 raised more than $1.2 billion for children's hospitals; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Each year, many major corporations and associations 1-18 feature Children's Miracle Network Champions in their marketing 1-19 plans, and new and exciting programming under the banner of 1-20 Children's Miracle Network Champions attracts the sporting world 1-21 to the cause of children; and 1-22 WHEREAS, On February 10, 1999, the Texas Senate is pleased 1-23 to pay tribute to the representatives from the Texas affiliates 1-24 of the Children's Miracle Network Champions who are visiting the 2-1 Texas State Capitol and to honor them as Champions Across Texas; 2-2 now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 76th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the Children's Miracle 2-5 Network Champions for its exceptional work on behalf of the 2-6 children of our country and extend a warm welcome to the 2-7 representatives from the Texas affiliates who are visiting 2-8 the Capitol; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-10 for this organization as an expression of esteem from the 2-11 Texas Senate. 2-12 Fraser 2-13 Haywood 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 President of the Senate 2-16 I hereby certify that the above 2-17 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-18 on February 4, 1999. 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Secretary of the Senate 2-21 ______________________________________ 2-22 Member, Texas Senate 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 Member, Texas Senate
