 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 146
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
 1-4     recognizing Enrique "Rick" Dovalina, on his outstanding work
 1-5     as a leading Houston citizen and as national president of the
 1-6     League of United Latin American Citizens; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, A graduate of Bates College of Law at the
 1-8     University of Houston, Rick Dovalina is a partner in the law
 1-9     firm of Dovalina, Eureste, Villarreal and Landa, a full-service
1-10     firm with an emphasis in personal injury, worker's compensation,
1-11     family law, and municipal bond law; and
1-12           WHEREAS, A highly respected community leader,
1-13     Rick Dovalina is well known for his commitment to social
1-14     activism and is involved in numerous pro bono and civil
1-15     activities; he was a board member of SER Jobs For Progress
1-16     and has been a member of the League of United Latin American
1-17     Citizens in Houston Council 673 since 1986; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Mr. Dovalina has served as a League of United
1-19     Latin American Citizens council president, treasurer, legal
1-20     advisor, and District VIII director; he was a legal advisor to
1-21     the previous League of United Latin American Citizens national
1-22     president and was elected national president on July 4, 1998; and
1-23           WHEREAS, He is active in local, state, and national
1-24     politics and is a member of numerous organizations, including
 2-1     the Mexican American Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers
 2-2     Association, and the National Association of Bond Lawyers; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman who has distinguished
 2-4     himself in his profession and as a civil activist, Rick Dovalina
 2-5     has received numerous awards for his dedicated service to the
 2-6     League of United Latin American Citizens, and he brings to his
 2-7     position as national president a wealth of experience and
 2-8     first-rate leadership skills; now, therefore, be it
 2-9           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-10     76th Legislature, hereby commend Enrique Dovalina on his
2-11     invaluable service to the League of United Latin American
2-12     Citizens and to his community; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-14     him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
