1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 182
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great
 1-3     pleasure in recognizing the National Baptist Convention of
 1-4     America, Incorporated, as it meets for its Annual Mid-Winter
 1-5     Board Meeting; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, This exciting event will take place on
 1-7     March 1 through 5, 1999, in Houston; the host pastor for the
 1-8     event is the Reverend James E. Dixon II, senior pastor of
 1-9     Northwest Community Baptist Church; and
1-10           WHEREAS, More than 3,000 delegates will attend the meeting
1-11     and spend time in the City of Houston; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The National Baptist Convention of America,
1-13     Incorporated, is one of the oldest and largest religious
1-14     associations in the country, and it has more than one million
1-15     members; and
1-16           WHEREAS, The historical heritage of this convention reflects
1-17     the dedication by its members of their talents, skills, vision,
1-18     wisdom, and selfless service to others; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Numerous special activities will be held during the
1-20     convention, including a powerful prayer breakfast, a magnificent
1-21     musical, and the President's Scholarship Banquet; now, therefore,
1-22     be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
1-24     76th Legislature, hereby commend and welcome the National
 2-1     Baptist Convention of America, Incorporated, on its Annual
 2-2     Mid-Winter Board Meeting; and, be it further
 2-3           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
 2-4     expression of the high regard and esteem of the Texas Senate.
