1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 214
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
 1-3     congratulating the DeSoto Police Department under the leadership
 1-4     of Chief W. M. Brodnax for its accredited status which it received
 1-5     from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies,
 1-6     Incorporated, at its meeting November 21, 1998, in Knoxville,
 1-7     Tennessee; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Accredited since March 27, 1993, the DeSoto Police
 1-9     Department was pleased to again receive the title for having met
1-10     or surpassed the 439 standards set forth by the Commission on
1-11     Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Incorporated, manual by
1-12     which they are judged; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Only 500 law enforcement agencies in the
1-14     United States, Canada, and Barbados have been accredited by the
1-15     nonprofit organization that was founded by the International
1-16     Association of Chiefs of Police, the National Organization of Black
1-17     Law Enforcement Executives, the National Sheriff's Association, and
1-18     the Police Executive Research Forum; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Membership in this elite group is on a voluntary
1-20     basis and reflects the dedication of the DeSoto Police Department
1-21     to the public it serves by its willingness to conform to such high
1-22     standards of performance; now, therefore, be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
1-24     76th Legislature, hereby commend Chief W. M. Brodnax for the DeSoto
 2-1     Police Department's prestigious achievement of again receiving
 2-2     accreditation for its excellence as a law enforcement agency; and,
 2-3     be it further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 2-5     Chief Brodnax as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
