1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 217 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-3 recognizing Christopher Mitchell, who recently earned national 1-4 recognition for exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 1-5 1999 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and 1-6 WHEREAS, This prestigious award is part of a nationwide 1-7 program through which The Prudential Insurance Company of America, 1-8 in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School 1-9 Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have 1-10 demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their 1-11 communities; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Christopher Mitchell, of Lamesa, Texas, and a 1-13 senior at Lamesa High School, earned this award by giving 1-14 generously of his time and energy to initiate an alcohol abuse 1-15 awareness project in his community; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The success of the State of Texas, the strength 1-17 of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society 1-18 depend, in large measure, upon the dedication of young people 1-19 like Christopher who use their considerable talents and resources 1-20 to serve others; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-22 76th Legislature, hereby commend Christopher Mitchell on his 1-23 outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and 1-24 community spirit, and extend congratulations to him on earning a 2-1 1999 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-3 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-4 Duncan 2-5 ______________________________________ 2-6 President of the Senate 2-7 I hereby certify that the above 2-8 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-9 on February 16, 1999. 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 Secretary of the Senate 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 Member, Texas Senate
