 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 236
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
 1-4     congratulating Dr. Sidney E. Isdale on his 50 years of dedicated
 1-5     service to the Killeen community; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, At age 71, Dr. Isdale can look back with pride
 1-7     over the years to see how his chiropractic practice has
 1-8     flourished as the result of his personal concern and expert
 1-9     care of his patients from a modest practice, which he began
1-10     in January of 1949 staffed only by himself and his mother,
1-11     to a growing clinic, which has three chiropractors and four
1-12     assistants; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Dr. Isdale and his wife, Jeanne, had five children,
1-14     and four of them have also become practicing chiropractors; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Dr. Isdale's influence on his profession has
1-16     been considerable because he has not only influenced his own
1-17     children to enter the profession but also other young people
1-18     who have been impressed with his personal touch of healing
1-19     and encouragement; and
1-20           WHEREAS, In August, 1974, Larry R. Montgomery, who
1-21     is now the president of the Texas Chiropractic Association,
1-22     came to Dr. Isdale on the recommendation of his Belton
1-23     football coaches for a knee injury; almost 25 years later,
1-24     Dr. Larry Montgomery praises Dr. Isdale in an article
 2-1     published in the Texas Journal of Chiropractic for saving
 2-2     his football career for his senior year of play and for
 2-3     acting as his mentor by encouraging him to choose a career in
 2-4     chiropractic; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Another young life was changed by Dr. Isdale
 2-6     when a dyslexic, underachieving soldier stationed in Killeen
 2-7     went to him for relief from migraines that had tormented him
 2-8     from a young age; the soldier, Dr. Ernie Panza, was so
 2-9     influenced by the gentle care and thorough, life-changing
2-10     advice that Dr. Isdale gave him on how to cure his migraines
2-11     that he, too, became a doctor of chiropractic and began a
2-12     career in giving inspirational speeches and workshops that
2-13     have also changed the lives of countless others; and
2-14           WHEREAS, The interest Dr. Isdale takes in his patients
2-15     also extends to his dedication to his professional activities
2-16     and the community of Killeen, for he has served a six-year
2-17     term on the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners and been a
2-18     member of the Tri County Chiropractic Society, the American
2-19     Chiropractic Association, and the Bell County Chiropractic
2-20     Society, as well as having been a member of the Killeen City
2-21     Council for eight years, on the board of directors of the
2-22     First National Bank of Killeen for seven years, on the
2-23     Central Texas College Advisory Committee, president of the
2-24     local Kiwanis Club, and a member of the Masonic Lodge; and
2-25           WHEREAS, A loving husband and father to his wife, Jeanne,
2-26     and their children, Sherrell, Scott, Stanley, Stuart, and Shawn,
 3-1     and his 13 grandchildren, Dr. Isdale takes pride in his closely
 3-2     knit family and their accomplishments; Jeanne manages the
 3-3     chiropractic clinic and has served as the director of the
 3-4     Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce, and the children continue
 3-5     to follow in his footsteps as concerned members of their
 3-6     communities; and
 3-7           WHEREAS, In gratitude for his long years of service to
 3-8     the Killeen community, the City of Killeen is designating
 3-9     February 21, 1999, as "Dr. Sidney Isdale Day" in Killeen;
3-10     now, therefore, be it
3-11           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
3-12     76th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Sidney Earle Isdale for
3-13     50 years of excellence in his profession; and, be it further
3-14           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3-15     Dr. Isdale as an expression of esteem by the Texas Senate with
3-16     best wishes for the celebration in his honor.
