 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 240
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure
 1-4     in recognizing Pat Atteberry, who was named San Angelo's 1998
 1-5     Citizen of the Year; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Pat Atteberry was honored recently during the
 1-7     annual Chamber of Commerce banquet; her prestigious award was
 1-8     presented to her by last year's recipients of the coveted honor,
 1-9     former city manager Stephen Brown and his wife, Ellen; and
1-10           WHEREAS, A citizen of San Angelo for 40 years, Pat came to
1-11     San Angelo in 1959 as a single mother of three; her first job was
1-12     with an insurance company; next, she undertook the challenging job
1-13     of organizing and directing the Retired Senior Volunteer Program;
1-14     and
1-15           WHEREAS, Among the many causes Mrs. Atteberry has adopted
1-16     are the San Angelo Civic Ballet, Angelo Civic Theater, Hospice
1-17     of San Angelo, the March of Dimes, and United Blood Services;
1-18     and
1-19           WHEREAS, Deeply involved with social service and youth
1-20     groups, Pat participates in First Call for Help, Teen Help Line,
1-21     Volunteers in Public Schools, Pastoral Care and Counseling, Meals
1-22     for the Elderly, Project Dignidad, and the United Way; and
1-23           WHEREAS, Pat Atteberry serves on boards and accomplishes
1-24     what is necessary, and she does it with style and determination;
 2-1     she has always served her community this way; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, Another constant in her life has been her continued
 2-3     employment with KLST Television; she conducts interviews and shares
 2-4     insights about the community, and she intends to continue; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Practically no one else in San Angelo is as
 2-6     recognizable as Pat Atteberry, and she has been an enthusiastic
 2-7     fan and energetic booster of San Angelo; she considers the Citizen
 2-8     of the Year Award the thrill of a lifetime; and
 2-9           WHEREAS, In all her activities, Pat Atteberry has given 100
2-10     percent of her care, warmth, and abilities; San Angelo is fortunate
2-11     indeed to count this lady as one of its most dedicated leaders; now,
2-12     therefore, be it
2-13           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-14     76th Legislature, hereby applaud the many achievements of
2-15     Pat Atteberry; and, be it further
2-16           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-17     her as an expression of the highest regard and esteem of the
2-18     Texas Senate.
