 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 245
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 1-4     congratulate the members of the Grapevine High School football team
 1-5     on their victory in the 1998 Class 4A District 1 championship
 1-6     football competition; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, The Mustangs defeated the Bay City Black Cats 22-0
 1-8     in Texas Stadium to clinch their championship title; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Exhibiting awesome talent and perseverance
1-10     throughout the season, the Mustangs' team players, Roger Chapman,
1-11     Jason Schindler, Jared Brown, Nick Leckey, Kelly Sayre, Blake Holt,
1-12     Dan Cameron, Jimmy Barnett, Ben Benardino, Ryan Gowdy, Derek Frey,
1-13     Andrew Marr, Chris Gray, Devin Pilgrim, Nick Zies, Curtis Caldwell,
1-14     Trent Scribner, Cody Spencer, Ryan Maxwell, Andy Thompson,
1-15     Josh Born, Joe Stanford, Matt France, Richard Spruell,
1-16     Damon Williams, Saleem Razvi, Stewart Records, Chad White,
1-17     T. J. Howard, Brandon Winner, Sam Robert, Jordan Wilson,
1-18     DeWayne Betik, Cody Koontz, Cole Farden, Alex Martin, Brad Balla,
1-19     Brad Lynes, Matt Cantrell, Mitch Gatlin, Daniel Cheek, Rory Dyck,
1-20     Josh Cook, Matt Baan, Casey Ford, Chris Culver, Taylor Farden, the
1-21     coaches, and the trainers deserve to be proud of their efforts and
1-22     outstanding performance; and
1-23           WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of
1-24     their head coach, Mike Sneed, and the assistant coaches, Gary Olivo,
 2-1     Gary Mullins, Roger Benefield, Bruce Holmes, Heath Bullard,
 2-2     Andy Modica, Dave Sammons, Bill Symon, Bill McClesky, Tim McCune,
 2-3     Marty Wyatt, Scott Goodwin, Bryan Higginbotham, J. T. Grubbs,
 2-4     Todd Rogers, and Scott Lee, the Mustangs pulled together as a team
 2-5     and attained their goal; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, Throughout the season, trainers Chriss Burke and
 2-7     Tamara LeMay have provided many hours of steadfast support to team
 2-8     members and have been available to attend to their needs during each
 2-9     of the games; and
2-10           WHEREAS, The Mustangs' team unity, exceptional skills, and
2-11     respect for the highest ideals of American sportsmanship have
2-12     brought honor to the school and to the community; now, therefore,
2-13     be it
2-14           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-15     76th Legislature, hereby commend the Grapevine High School Mustangs
2-16     for their state championship title and extend appreciation to the
2-17     school's principal, Dana Drew, for his outstanding leadership; and,
2-18     be it further
2-19           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
2-20     Grapevine High School Mustangs as an expression of esteem from the
2-21     Texas Senate.
