1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 256 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure 1-3 in recognizing Otis Hopkins for his invaluable contributions to 1-4 the El Paso community; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The manager of field operations for Raytheon 1-6 Training and Services Company, Otis has over 30 years of 1-7 corporate experience as a technical manager and has lived in 1-8 Korea, the Republic of Taiwan, Germany, and Saudi Arabia; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Active in numerous civic and community organizations, 1-10 Mr. Hopkins has been a leader in the City of El Paso since he moved 1-11 there in 1988; and 1-12 WHEREAS, President of the Black El Paso Democrats, Mr. Hopkins 1-13 is a member of the board of directors for the Greater El Paso 1-14 Chamber of Commerce, the Burnham Wood Charter School, Accion 1-15 El Paso, and the Upper Rio Grande Workforce Development Board; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Exceptionally dedicated and resourceful, Mr. Hopkins 1-17 is an unusually hard worker whose concern for others is manifest by 1-18 the many boards and organizations to which he belongs; and 1-19 WHEREAS, A talented and exemplary gentleman and a respected 1-20 humanitarian, Otis Hopkins has made countless contributions to 1-21 the betterment of his community and to the State of Texas; now, 1-22 therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-24 76th Legislature, hereby express appreciation to Otis Hopkins 2-1 for his numerous accomplishments and for the time and energy he 2-2 so generously gives to his city; and, be it further 2-3 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-4 him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-5 Shapleigh 2-6 ______________________________________ 2-7 President of the Senate 2-8 I hereby certify that the above 2-9 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-10 on February 22, 1999. 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 Secretary of the Senate 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Member, Texas Senate
