 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 267
 1-3           WHEREAS, Today's date, February 22, is a cause for
 1-4     celebration not only in honor of George Washington's Birthday
 1-5     but also because Senator Chris Harris turns 51 today; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Everyone's birthday is a cause for celebration,
 1-7     but Senator Harris's advance in years is a medical miracle and
 1-8     source of amazement, for much like the television program,
 1-9     "Six Million Dollar Man," Senator Harris is part by part
1-10     replacing himself and must surely be worth at least a couple
1-11     of million dollars now in replacement parts; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Senator Harris has won many awards and received
1-13     recognition for his accomplishments, including special recognition
1-14     from the Wall Street Journal for his innovative questioning
1-15     of witnesses and most recently winning the coveted Mr. Congeniality
1-16     Award of the 75th Legislative Session, which prompted his colleagues
1-17     to express the desire for the Chris Harris School of Charm to be
1-18     established for all who could benefit from his instruction; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Through the significant achievement of completing
1-20     his education, Senator Harris proved that being dyslexic and
1-21     having attention deficit disorder are not serious impediments
1-22     to finishing school and that social promotion may not be such
1-23     a bad thing, last Thursday's Senate Bill 1 notwithstanding; and
1-24           WHEREAS, The State of Texas commends Senator Harris for
 2-1     generously supporting the state budget surplus through his
 2-2     contributions to the tobacco tax and the gasoline tax on his
 2-3     assorted oversized automobiles, recreational vehicles, and
 2-4     trucks; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Senator Harris is especially adept in the art of
 2-6     legislation involving rodeo, bulldozers, cattle punching, and
 2-7     mudding and continues to hone his expertise in these areas; and
 2-8           WHEREAS, Senator Harris is universally wished a happy
 2-9     birthday with special best wishes from several former attorney
2-10     generals and directors of the State School for the Deaf; now,
2-11     therefore, be it
2-12           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-13     76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere greetings for a happy
2-14     birthday with many happy returns to Senator Chris Harris; and,
2-15     be it further
2-16           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-17     Senator Harris as an expression of high regard from the
2-18     Texas Senate.
