1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 284 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-3 recognizing Texas College in Tyler on the occasion of the event 1-4 it is sponsoring on March 3, 1999, "Women Changing The World"; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, A well-known institution of higher education, 1-7 Texas College has designed an important program to recognize 1-8 women who contribute in significant and special ways to their 1-9 communities and state; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The college has appropriately scheduled the event 1-11 to take place March 3, since March of 1999 has been designated 1-12 National Woman's Month; and 1-13 WHEREAS, This year, Texas College is honoring 1-14 Sheila Jackson Lee, a United States Congresswoman from Texas 1-15 representing government and politics, Dr. Barbara Hatton, 1-16 representing education, Cynthia Cooper, representing athletics, 1-17 and Deryl McKissack, representing the business world; and 1-18 WHEREAS, All of these women are exemplary individuals 1-19 who have an impact on their communities and who inspire young 1-20 people to become active in public issues and to help make the 1-21 State of Texas a better place in which to live, work, and raise 1-22 families; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-24 76th Legislature, hereby commend Texas College on hosting 2-1 "Women Changing The World" and on its selection of these superior 2-2 individuals to be recognized for their accomplishments; and, be 2-3 it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a 2-5 memento of this special event. 2-6 Cain 2-7 ______________________________________ 2-8 President of the Senate 2-9 I hereby certify that the above 2-10 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-11 on February 24, 1999. 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 Secretary of the Senate 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 Member, Texas Senate
